Rules and Terms of Entry to the 2011 Data Center Leaders’ Awards

The submission of an on-line entry form for any of the 2011 Data Center Leaders’ Award categories [the ‘Awards’] is taken to denote a reading and acceptance of the rules and terms of entry as stated below
  1. Initial entry to the Awards will be via the on-line Entry Form accessed through the Awards section of the DatacenterDynamics website
    [www.datacenterdynamics.com/awards].
No other form or means of entry will be accepted. Please do not send supporting materials through in conjunction with your initial on-line Entry Forms as these will not be considered as part of the initial judging process
  2. All dates for submission as set down on the website are final and no initial entry will be accepted after the stated closing date of 31st October 2011, 5pm GMT
  3. Invitations to one of the Judges’ Day (6th/7th December 2011) will be made on or before 5pm GMT on Monday 21st November 2011
  4. At all stages of the judging process, the decision of the panel of judges appointed to the Award category you enter will be final. The judges may at their discretion refuse to judge an entry they believe not to be eligible for the category. No discussion will be entered into in regard to the judging process or its outcomes
  5. If you wish to enter your project into more than one Award category then please ensure before you enter that you are answering the Entry Criteria for each category you wish to enter. Entries into multiple categories that do not appear to have been adapted to the different criteria of each will be entered only into the category that in the opinion of the judges they best match
  6. No organisation will be allowed more than one finalist in any one category
  7. Entries to the Awards in previous years will not be accepted into the categories for which they were previously entered. They may however be entered for other Award categories
  8. Four finalists will be selected to appear at one of the Judges’ Days (6th and 7th December 2011) from each of the Award categories with the exception of:

    a. 14: Datacenter Business Leader of the Year and 15: Outstanding Contribution to the Industry. Initial entries are welcomed into both of these categories but no short list of finalists will be issued. The winner of each of these two Awards will be decided by a specifically constituted panel of 6 judges
12: Young Mission Critical of the Year: the number of finalists to be invited will be determined by the judges during the judging of the initial entries. More than four finalists may be invited to the Judges’ Day
11: The Most Extreme Data Centre Deployment: The winner of this category will be decided by votes cast by the data centre community. Details of the voting process and eligibility to vote will be announced on 31st October 2011.

  9. Each Award category will be judged by a panel constituted of a minimum of four independent judges. A representative of the organisation sponsoring the Award category may also join the panel for that category
  10. All judging anomalies or disagreements will be referred to the Chair of the Judging Panel for resolution
  11. All members of the judging panel for a particular Award category including the Chair will be asked to declare any direct or indirect commercial or competitive interest in the Award categories they have been asked to judge. Where such an interest exists, the judge will be removed from that Award category and replaced
  12. For the purposes of the Awards, ‘EMEA’ has been defined as the 47 nations bounded by the Urals, the Caspian Sea and the Caucus Mountains to the East, the Mediterranean Sea to the south and the Atlantic and Denmark Strait to the north/east plus the 61 states of Africa plus states on the Arabian Peninsula west and including Iran..
  13. Entrants who prefer may submit their initial entry in a language other than English using the on-line entry form. This will then be translated by a member of the DatacenterDynamics staff. No responsibility can however be accepted for errors in translation.
  14. Entry to the Awards constitutes recognition that DatacenterDyanmics retains the right to editorial coverage of the entry via printed, electronic or other media. Where such coverage includes content beyond that which might reasonably be expected to already occur in the public domain, it will be passed to the nominated principal contact within the relevant organisation for approval before publication.
On Thursday 15th December 2011 at the Lancaster London Hotel, Hyde Park, London we will be celebrating another year of challenge and acheivement in data centres across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
